The village of Mercurey takes its name from a temple to the God Mercurey errected in the area by Roman Legions. Its viticultural history also dates back to Roman times. Mercurey wines are distinctive and characterised by their ample penetrating earthy fruit and well structured palate. | |

Tasting note |
The Mercury 2009 has a deep bright colour. Aromas of plums and morello cherries make way for ample and powerful flavours of violets and liquorice to come through on the palate. Good tannins on the finish mark the true characteristics of Mercurey.

15.5 Points, www.jancisrobinson.com, January 2011'Pale cherry red. Fresh and quite vital and beguiling. Focused and cheerful. Lots of easy fun and charm here.' Jancis Robinson MW Will Lyons, Wall Street Journal Europe, 27 Jul 2012This example has a wonderful nose, packed with autumnal notes such as plums and dark cherries. The finish is smooth and silky which means it doesn’t overwhelm the palate and can be sipped with enjoyment. |
